Your Opportunity:
As a Pharmacist I with Alberta Health Services, you will have the chance to provide high-quality direct patient care in a multidisciplinary environment. Our pharmacists work together to provide specialized and general medicine care to patients. In drug distribution, our pharmacists collaborate with registered technicians and pharmacy assistants to allow the pharmacist to focus on clinical order assessment.
Description:
As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention, and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) from the Alberta College of Pharmacist would be an asset for this position. Successful candidates not having APA will be expected to obtain it within 6 months of commencing in this position, dependent on eligibility. Pharmacy-related experience in a hospital setting or in direct patient care providing comprehensive medication management services. Recent experience as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team. Experience with computerized medication order entry, and different drug distribution systems such as unit dose.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated self-directed learning and continuing education. Demonstrated good time management including ability to switch priorities and multitask. Demonstrated excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, good organizational and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated; able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
