Job Title: Groundskeeper

About the Role:

Techo-Bloc is seeking a skilled Groundskeeper to join our maintenance team. As our outdoor maintenance expert, you will play a vital role in maintaining the beauty of our facilities' grounds throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine grass cutting and trimming to maintain a well-manicured appearance.
  • Weed and cultivate all flower and shrub beds to ensure a healthy and thriving landscape.
  • Prune and trim all shrubs and bushes to maintain their shape and promote healthy growth.
  • Apply fertilizers and other ground treatments to promote healthy plant growth.
  • Trim and control all ivy on the exterior of the buildings to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Construct and/or install new landscape features, such as steps and beds.
  • Maintain existing landscape features, including irrigation systems.
  • Plant seasonal flowers in all flowerbeds to add color and vibrancy to the landscape.
  • Remove snow from parking lots, sidewalks, steps, and other areas using mechanical or hand equipment.
  • Sand and salt parking lots, sidewalks, steps, and other areas to prevent slippery and dangerous conditions.
  • Maintain woodlots and clear debris from eavestroughs and flat roof drains.
  • Perform routine mechanical maintenance on all hand tools, power tools, and machinery and equipment.
  • Assist other maintenance and facilities staff as required to provide function setups, furniture and equipment moves, parking supervision, and other tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in landscaping and snow removal, with arboriculture experience a plus.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Knowledgeable in landscaping maintenance, plant care, and materials, such as interlock paving.
  • Skilled in maintaining and repairing both living and non-living landscape materials.
  • Proficient with small power tools for repairs and installations.
  • Ability to safely operate large machinery, such as snow plows, tractors, and chippers.
  • Physically fit, capable of manual labor, and willing to work in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work independently with a positive attitude.
