Job Title: Phlebotomist

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team in providing high-quality laboratory services to our patients.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized individual with a strong background in medical laboratory procedures to collect blood samples from patients in a variety of healthcare settings. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and demonstrate a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Collect blood samples from patients in a variety of healthcare settings
  • Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures
  • Label and process blood samples for laboratory testing
  • Maintain accurate records of patient samples and test results
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure efficient and accurate testing
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and laboratory services
Requirements:
  • Completion of high school diploma or recognized equivalent
  • Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician Certification from Ontario Society of Medical Technology (OSMT)
  • Minimum one (1) year recent laboratory experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, with frequent exposure to blood and other bodily fluids. The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, is essential.
