Mine Surveyor Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mine Surveyor to join our team at Nhwelmen Construction Limited Partnership / Elk Gold. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating surface mine survey requirements, developing surveying methodologies, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of survey data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement mine surveying methodologies and standards
  • Assist with the selection, setup, and implementation of mine surveying equipment and tools
  • Execute mine surveys in line with approved methodologies and standards
  • Interface with project teams to ensure regular updates of survey results
  • Support the ATM process, including design and survey layouts
  • Maintain up-to-date as-built plans
  • Ensure required survey control and governance is provided for mine construction
  • Coordinate third-party assurance activities to ensure the integrity and accuracy of mine survey results
  • Manage the day-to-day oversight of mine technicians, including training requirements
  • Ensure all survey tools and equipment are calibrated
  • Participate in site safety programs, including audits and mentoring of personnel
  • Help implement mining and minerals principles in the surveying process
  • Operate day-to-day, prioritizing activities in line with broader objectives
  • Support technical systems and procedures within the Planning & Technical team
Requirements:
  • Technical degree or diploma in geomatics, mining, or civil engineering, or equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience
  • Professional Surveyor eligible for membership with the Professional Surveyors of Canada (PSC)
  • Drone Pilot Certification
  • Relevant experience in a surface mining environment
  • High attention to detail, motivation, and commitment to quality outcomes
  • Strong technical knowledge of various surveying methods, tools, and software
  • Ability to operate effectively and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and quickly comprehend new concepts and technologies
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Work Environment:

This is a site-based position at the Elk Gold Mine Site located off Highway 97C in British Columbia. The schedule is 7 on and 7 off, with 12-hour shifts averaging 84 hours per week.
