About the Role

Merit Kitchens is seeking a skilled High-End Finisher to join our team in Vancouver, British Columbia. As a key member of our production staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality finishes on our kitchen cabinets.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Finishing Painter who can work independently and as part of a team to deliver high-quality results. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with various painting techniques and materials, and possess excellent safety procedures and equipment knowledge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Select appropriate paint or mix paints using paint mixing equipment according to a pre-determined formula.
  • Operate hand-held spray guns to spray paint or coat large items with protective or decorative coatings.
  • Clean and maintain painting and coating, ventilation, compressed air, and personal protective equipment.
  • Mark, record, and report defects.
  • Clean and perform preparation of worksite.
  • Signal equipment and line operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
  • Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a finishing painter, preferably in cabinet or furniture manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of various painting techniques and materials.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certification is a plus.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds and stand, walk, bend, etc. for 8 hours a day.
  • Effective English reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
  • Time management, prioritization skills, and attention to detail.
