Job Summary

Okanagan College is seeking a qualified Continuing Studies Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality educational services to our students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver curriculum related to the teaching assignment, ensuring it is current and relevant to the needs of our students.
  • Provide teaching and educational services to participants registered in the program, including advice and instructional assistance as it pertains to course content.
  • Monitor and evaluate participant progress in the course, ensuring they understand and comply with the rules and policies governing the operation of Okanagan College.
  • Prepare and maintain course materials, course outlines, lesson plans, instructional aids, assignments, exams, and attendance records.
  • Maintain and submit grade assignments, exams, and grading sheets to the Program Administrator/Coordinator, utilizing the standardized grading system of Okanagan College.
  • Communicate with the Program Administrator/Coordinator on any issue related to student participation or course delivery.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree and post-secondary teaching experience are preferred; however, applicants who have completed Grade 12 and possess an equivalent combination of teaching and work experience in their area of expertise may be considered.
  • An Instructor's Diploma or valid BC Teacher's Certificate appropriate to the instructional assignment is preferred.
  • 6 – 10 years recent relevant experience
  • Candidates must be committed to a team approach, demonstrate good written and oral English skills, and have good interpersonal skills.
  • The ideal candidate will have an exceptional teaching record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Provincial Instructor Diploma or Learner Centred Instructor certificate or equivalent experience and education appropriate to the instructional assignment are preferred.
  • Experience in curriculum development would be an asset.
