Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for:

  • Material movement to and from workstations using a forklift, in accordance with Marwood Operating Standards
  • Operating a lift truck and/or crane to unload materials onto and off trucks and loading docks
  • Completing lift truck inspection and preventative maintenance as per the Lift Truck Daily Inspection Sheet
  • FIFO and work-in-process material flow, including PLEX/computer inventory scanning and maintaining material to and from designated work stations and inventory locations
  • Determining method of shipment and preparing bills of lading, customs forms, invoices, and other shipping documents
  • Inspecting and verifying incoming materials against packing slips or other documents, recording shortages and rejecting damaged goods
  • Understanding the proper flow of all documentation and records associated with material handling
  • Ensuring safety in traffic areas while loading, unloading, and transferring bins, totes, racks, etc.
  • Overseeing loading and unloading of materials from trucks
  • Counting, weighing, sorting, packing, and unpacking materials
  • FOLLOWING PROPER STAGING TECHNIQUES for daily inventories; following process routings
  • Maintaining accurate records and identifying and differentiating bins by part numbers and codes by use of PLEX, computer, hand scanner
  • Recognizing potential shortages of parts/materials and advising Production Supervisor
  • Performing all duties while practicing safe work habits and obeying all policies and procedures
  • All other relevant duties

Key Requirements

  • Grade 12 or GED required
  • Ability to do repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Lift Truck Certification and Overhead Crane License considered assets
  • Excellent attendance
