Job Summary:

The External Maintenance Labourer is a key member of the West Edmonton Mall team, responsible for ensuring the external areas of the mall are well-maintained and free from debris. This role requires a high level of physical fitness and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily patrols of the parking lots and sidewalks to identify and remove debris, including garbage, leaves, and other obstructions.
  • Operate small equipment, such as backpack blowers, snow blowers, and power brooms, to maintain walkways and parking lots.
  • Change garbage cans, ash trays, and planters as required, and wash garbage cans, ash trays, windows, signs, and call boxes.
  • Ensure all external areas of the mall are clean and free from debris, including shoveling snow from walkways and removing gravel, weeds, and dirt.
  • Install, maintain, clean, and replace door decals and walk-off matting as required.
  • Perform other external maintenance tasks as required by the mall.

Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time while bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting, and performing other physical activities.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and have a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work at heights and in harsh climate conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Previous experience in an outdoor work setting, doing laborer work, or similar in nature.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time and part-time positions available, requiring availability on days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to provide a 3-year Driver's Abstract.
  • Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
