Electrical Engineering Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team in British Columbia. This position will be based out of Burnaby and will require travel throughout British Columbia and other provinces when necessary for project support.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform electrical analysis and design in both the industrial and utility sectors
  • Design and integrate protective relaying systems
  • Develop and implement industrial/ utility substation automation solutions
  • Conduct electrical studies including short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc-flash, load flow, grounding, and harmonic studies
  • Create and modify electrical drawing packages
  • Design and modify electrical distribution systems
  • Troubleshoot problems and develop practical solutions to correct deficiencies in electrical systems
  • Support field services division for maintenance and commissioning activities on customer sites
  • Perform onsite inspections and data collection
Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Understanding of industrial/utility protection and relay systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (CEC, IEEE1584)
  • Experience with electrical engineering software such as EasyPower, SKM and ETAP considered an asset
  • Understanding of microprocessor-based relays and their capabilities considered an asset
  • Valid driver's license and clean abstract required for fieldwork
  • Fluent English language skills

Pay Scale:
  • $35 to $55 depending on experience
  • Overtime after 8 hours, Double time after 10 hours
