Capital Markets Risk Technology Application Specialist

About the RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Application Specialist to join our Capital Markets Risk Technology team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving strategy to transform current market risk management platforms using new technologies and tools available that best support the business need.
Key Responsibilities- Analysis, design, and implementation of effective and quality solutions that resolve highly complex business problems and support business needs.
- Work with diverse sets of technologies to implement new systems, or enhancements of existing implementations, and ensure sound integration with surrounding components from end-to-end operational perspective.
- Write well-designed testing suites for end-to-end testing of business flows.
- Incorporate modern technologies and practices to reduce operational cost and improve security, availability, reliability of overall business systems.
- Effectively monitor performance and provide counsel and coaching.
- Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen business user and stakeholder relationships.
- Perform hands-on analysis and problem-solving as needed.
- 10+ years of relevant software development and IT industry work experience.
- Disciplined in development methodology and familiar with software development technologies and concepts.
- Strong programming skills in Python and Java, and experience with a wide spectrum of technologies including Airflow, Docker, Cloud development/deployment (Azure/Google).
- Practical expertise using agile delivery with deep understanding of core agile concepts, and continuous delivery and deployment methodologies.
- Knowledge of RiskWatch a plus.
- Knowledge and experience in Capital Markets and Risk Management would be an asset.
