Job Description

In a dynamic and complex environment, the Cyber Security Strategist will play a pivotal role in shaping Scotiabank's long-term cyber security strategies and roadmaps. Using architecture methodologies and security frameworks, this individual will support the development of technology solutions that ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

This role requires collaboration with global stakeholders to provide architectural direction, participate in design councils, and ensure the quality and accuracy of standards and frameworks. The successful candidate will foster a customer-focused culture, ensure operational effectiveness, and implement a people strategy to attract, retain, and develop team members.

The key responsibilities include:
  1. Leading the security and resilience architecture teams to oversee the development and maintenance of technology solutions.
  2. Engaging with global stakeholders to provide architectural direction and participate in design councils.
  3. Fostering a customer-focused culture and ensuring operational effectiveness.
  4. Maintaining and periodically reviewing information security patterns, frameworks, and standards.
  5. Developing conceptual and logical security architectures for security capabilities.


The ideal candidate will possess strong collaboration skills, excellent oral and written communication, ability to present confidently to executives, attention to detail, and strong planning and management ability. Additionally, they should have strong leadership skills to support development of security and resilience architecture teams. Knowledge and experience with at least three of the following areas are required: application, data, endpoint, security analytics/monitoring, or cloud security.
