About the Role

The City of Burnaby is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Communications Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Communications and Community Engagement department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the City's communications strategy, providing communications advice to management and staff, and liaising with other managers to produce communications materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the City's communications strategy, including media relations, social media, and crisis communications
  • Provide communications advice to management and staff, including writing press releases, media advisories, and other communications materials
  • Liaise with other managers to produce communications materials, including brochures, flyers, and other promotional materials
  • Manage and maintain the City's website and social media channels
  • Develop and implement a social media strategy to engage with the community and promote the City's initiatives

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in communications, preferably in a municipal or government setting
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful communications strategies
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
