About the Role
The District of West Vancouver is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Museum Administrator/Curator to join our team. As a key member of our cultural services department, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing exhibitions, programs, and services that showcase the artistic and cultural heritage of our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Exhibition Planning and Development
- Plan, develop, and implement exhibitions that showcase the artistic and cultural heritage of our community
- Work with community partners to implement offsite exhibitions and programs
- Curatorial Services
- Support the Art Museum Advisory Panel as the Staff Liaison
- Manage the collection and ensure its preservation and conservation
- Staff Management and Development
- Manage staffing needs, performance management, and volunteers
- Develop and maintain relationships with District staff, the public, arts community, business sector, and all levels of government
- Community Engagement and Outreach
- Represent the Art Museum at community initiatives, other local, regional, and national professional meetings, conferences
- Develop and administer approved budgets and grants
- Policy Development and Implementation
- Participate in the development of District cultural initiatives, policies, and procedures
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
- Education and Experience
- Degree in Studio Arts, Curatorial Studies, Art History, Arts Management, or related field of study
- Experience in strategic and business planning, operationalizing plans, financial management, fund development, and grant writing
- Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain positive effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work in a stressful, deadline-oriented environment
