Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Development Specialist to join our team at the City of Brampton. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving and enabling community engagement and development by fostering program partnerships, leading and coordinating community events, and working on community-based initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community and contribute to the development of quality recreation programs that meet the current and changing needs of the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement community development projects that promote community engagement and participation
• Foster partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders to support community development initiatives
• Coordinate and lead community events and programs that promote community engagement and participation
• Provide leadership and supervision to support staff and volunteers in the delivery of community development programs

Requirements

• Post-secondary degree in a related field (e.g. Recreation, Leisure, Community Development)
• Minimum 2 years' experience in recreation programming and/or community development and engagement
• Excellent public relations skills and ability to effectively deal with the public
• Strong leadership skills and well-developed time management and organization skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
