Job Summary

The Clinical Scholar will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide clinical training and mentorship to newly graduated nurses, internationally educated nurses, nurses in supervised practice status, and nurses looking to upskill in accordance with the Standards of Practice as identified by the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide clinical training and mentorship to newly graduated nurses, internationally educated nurses, nurses in supervised practice status, and nurses looking to upskill.
  • Develop and implement educational programs to enhance knowledge transfer, integration of best practices into daily work, and support continuous quality improvement in clinical practice.
  • Provide a supportive environment that promotes educational activities and enhances knowledge transfer.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Educator to develop and implement educational programs.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • RN in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
  • Certification in telemetry training required.
  • Certification in Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred.
  • Certification in Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) an asset.
  • Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI) an asset.
  • Completion of 12 lead ECG and cardiac rhythm interpretation certification required.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Rate of pay ranges from $37.93 to $54.37, as per the ONA Collective Agreement.
  • Eligibility to enroll in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP).
  • Percent in lieu of benefits and vacation percentage paid out bi-weekly, up to 18% as per the ONA Collective Agreement.
