Home Care Licensed Practical Nurse

Job Purpose:The Home Care Licensed Practical Nurse supports health care in our community by fulfilling the responsibilities of the Home Care and Community Health Nursing Program. The overall objective is to provide effective nursing services that contribute to and enhance the health and well-being of our community's children, elders, and families.
Responsibilities:- Conduct home visits, performing basic nursing duties, including checking vital signs, blood sugar levels, wound care, charting, and medication checks.
- Collaborate with home care nurses to ensure a structured client assessment process to meet client needs, family supports, and service allocation.
- Maintain a system of charting and data collection to monitor and evaluate client wellness.
- Combine health sciences and clinical skills to effectively provide client care.
- Provide education and information to clients aimed at restoring, maintaining, and promoting health, as well as preventing illness, consistent with client needs and expectations, cultural, social, and spiritual needs.
- Advocate for services, supplies, and access to practitioners/medical care as needed for community members.
- Licensed practical nurse (LPN) with First Aid and CPR-C certification.
- Experience nursing in a First Nations and rural community is an asset.
- Emergency and triage training to assess medical conditions and determine actions.
- Honest, trustworthy, respectful, and compassionate.
- Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Ability to build trust, serve as a positive role model, and maintain confidentiality.
$60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
Benefits:- Student loan forgiveness program eligible community.
- Incentive of up to $8,000 per year for the first two years of employment.
- Wages in line with BC Nurses Union.
