Job Summary
Brandt is seeking a seasoned Platform Team Lead - Telematics to join our team. This position is located in a dynamic environment where you will be responsible for leading the engineering and product development of our telematics platform.
About the Role
The Platform Team Lead will serve as the business and technical head of the engineering platform, overseeing a team of engineers, technologists, and designers. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver high-quality designs within budget and schedule. This is a leadership position that involves management, design, project planning, estimating, and interfacing with the rest of the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the telematics portion of product design and development at the initial design phase, including design concept, regulatory compliance, and testing methodology.
- Direct and guide a standardized approach to design of assigned new products, focusing on performance, design for manufacturability, serviceability, reliability, affordability, and other key factors.
- Work within design teams on assigned products from concept through prototype testing to ensure design meets scope and development targets.
- Ensure an appropriate and disciplined approach to design activity is followed.
- Conduct field research as required, with occasional business travel.
- Teach and mentor design engineers and technologists, recommending skills training and process improvement where necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Logical, consistent, and effective approach to problem-solving, including risk mitigation in design.
- Good communication skills – written and verbal.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Senior engineering experience in electrical and/or software design and implementation.
- Experience in data collection system design.
- Experience in vehicle/equipment telematics preferred.
- Experience with mobile equipment control systems preferred.
