Job Title: Operational Buyer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operational Buyer to join our team at ANDRITZ Hydro Canada. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for sourcing and negotiating pricing with suppliers, managing purchase orders, and ensuring timely delivery of electrical materials and parts for our hydro projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Source and negotiate pricing with suppliers for electrical materials and parts
  • Manage purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods
  • Enforce and negotiate commercial terms and conditions with suppliers
  • Follow up with suppliers on delivery status and expedite as needed
  • Communicate with project teams and engineers to ensure project requirements are met
  • Work closely with accounts payable to reconcile invoices and provide supporting documentation
  • Ensure suppliers have necessary documentation to proceed with work
  • Coordinate with transport companies and customs brokers for shipment of orders
  • Handle material returns to vendors as required
  • Support field teams with urgent purchases
  • Prepare reports as required by department or senior management
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience as a buyer or combination of 1-2 years' experience and specific certifications
  • Experience with SAP purchasing software is an asset
  • Experience with purchase of electrical materials and parts is an asset
  • Good understanding of commercial terms and conditions of purchase
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to search web for new suppliers or products
  • Ability to be autonomous and work with minimal information
