Theatre Design Role Overview

The successful candidate for this position will assist in preparing comprehensive Theatre Design Documents for IMAX Theatres and support the Theatre Design team. They will be responsible for assisting in the generation of all technical documentation for IMAX equipment for use by the Theatre Projects/Design team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop configurations for IMAX theatres and equipment to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Create new and innovative experiences using IMAX technology and other technologies to enhance the cinematic experience.
  • Identify and document unique customer requirements to deliver the IMAX Experience, meeting the needs of individual clients.
  • Develop performance specifications and manufacturing details to meet the requirements of individual client needs, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Prepare technical documentation for internal and external use, including design plans, technical specifications, and installation guides.
  • Coordinate with sub-system suppliers to ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials.
  • Prepare presentation materials for technical and sales presentations, effectively communicating design concepts and solutions to stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Theatre Design team, contributing to the success of the IMAX Theatre Design team.

Requirements

  • Degree in Architectural Technology or equivalent, with a strong foundation in design principles and technical documentation.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in theatre design, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality design documents and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in electronic drafting, building systems, and proficiency in AutoCAD, REVIT, MS Project, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel internationally with a valid Passport and Driver's License, with a willingness to work overtime to meet deadlines.
