Job Overview

We are seeking a Chief Financial Compliance Officer to join our team at Scotiabank. This role is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of financial systems and processes.

About the Role
  • This position involves leading and performing end-to-end planning, execution, and reporting of assigned first line Global Finance testing engagements to evaluate the design and operational effectiveness of regulatory, compliance, and/or operational controls.
  • The incumbent will conduct interviews and walkthroughs with stakeholders to gain a thorough understanding of Finance programs, processes, controls, and reporting.
  • They will develop and execute appropriate testing procedures to assess compliance with regulatory reporting guidelines and financial accounting standards and policies.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and perform end-to-end planning, execution, and reporting of assigned first-line Global Finance testing engagements.
  2. Conduct interviews and walkthroughs with stakeholder partners to gain a thorough understanding of Finance programs, processes, controls, and reporting.
  3. Develop and execute appropriate testing procedures to assess compliance with regulatory reporting guidelines and financial accounting standards and policies.
  4. Perform and document testing activities in a manner that supports test results and conclusions.
  5. Analyze test results, identify control weaknesses, and draft reportable issues and enhancement opportunities.
  6. Perform validation and closure testing of Finance testing issues.
  7. Create and manage accurate and timely status updates and dashboards for senior management.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CA/CPA designation is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in financial accounting and reporting, preferably within the Financial Sector.
  • Proficient in designing, implementing, and managing testing protocols for financial systems and processes.
