At Toromont Cat, we are seeking a skilled Shop Mechanic to join our team in servicing heavy equipment and components. As a successful candidate, you will be responsible for planning, troubleshooting, and repairing Caterpillar equipment and components in our shop. Your day will include preparing necessary service reports for customers, working with a diverse product range, and focusing on safety and customer satisfaction in every job.

In a typical day, you will:

  • Demonstrate safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviors at all times, in support of Toromont's Health and Safety Policies, Programs and initiatives
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems using Caterpillar testing equipment
  • Repair Caterpillar diesel engines, all OEM truck and coach vehicles and other equipment in a timely and economical manner
  • Repair and service Caterpillar and all heavy equipment within the established standards
  • Prepare accurate service and repair reports in a timely manner
  • Maintain excellent customer relations through frequent communication
  • Undertake assignments as required in support of customer needs

Must-haves for this role:

  • Minimum post-secondary education and a valid Technician License (421A, 310T or 310S) relative to this position, following Provincial standards
  • Minimum 3-5 years of working experience as a Technician trouble shooting and repairing heavy equipment
