Counsellor, VAW Specialist

Family Service Toronto (FST) is seeking a skilled Counsellor to join our team in providing crisis intervention, clinical assessment, safety plan development, counselling, and psychotherapy services to women-identified individuals experiencing gender-based violence.
About the RoleThe Counsellor will work with women who have experienced physical, emotional, psychological, financial, sexual, spiritual, neglect, and/or cyber abuse. The role involves providing evidence-based, culturally competent individual and group work supports using a strengths-based, trauma-informed, intersectional, feminist framework.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual and group counselling sessions to women who have experienced violence.
- Conduct clinical assessments, safety planning, and counselling sessions with clients.
- Provide crisis intervention services to women in need of urgent support.
- Coordinate services with other organizations and FST programs.
- Develop and deliver training and educational workshops on topics related to VAW.
- Collaborate with team members and other staff across the organization.
- M.S.W., M.A., or M.Ed. degree or foreign credentials and relevant experience.
- Registration with the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
- Experience working with people who have experienced abuse using a trauma-informed, intersectional, feminist, anti-oppression, harm reduction framework.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Farsi as a second language is an asset.
