We are seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to lead our electrical construction operations team. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for the direction, completion, and financial outcome of electrical construction projects.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and monitor each stage of project development to ensure financial objectives are met.
- Coordinate daily and weekly meetings with project engineers and superintendents to develop project means and methods, schedule contracting needs, and long lead delivery times.
- Manage electrical field operations and work sequence in conjunction with the Project Manager.
- Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections. Review, approve, and negotiate change orders.
- Establish work plans and staffing needs for each phase of the project, working closely with the Project Manager and HR team to manage relationships with staff and craft employees.
- Form and lead an effective project management team, define, and delegate management responsibilities and set goals.
- Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
- Be an effective leader and communicate with department leads and other project personnel regarding work scopes.
- Ensure electricians and engineers understand and execute work as required by client/project specifications.
- Ensure safety, quality, and production are always maintained.
- Responsible for project closeout: securing loose ends by finishing paperwork, obtaining retainages, supporting supervisors, and expediting claims.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is an asset.
- At least 5 years of work experience managing electrical aspects of commercial construction projects with a proven track record of successful outcomes.
- Strong understanding of project scheduling, cost control, project owner specifications, engineering drawings, and other project documents/reports.
- The ability to work successfully both independently and as a team to meet project goals and deadlines.
- Strong work ethic - willing to do what it takes to get the job done the first time.
- Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
