We are seeking a highly skilled Torch/Yard Labourer to join our team at SECURE's Peace River Metals Recycling facility.

The ideal candidate will have experience in operating basic hand tools, assisting machine operators and welders, material handling, and general housekeeping to maintain a clean work site.

Estimated Salary

Ranging from $60,000 to $80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.

About the Role

This is a dynamic role that involves performing general duties in the fabrication and Non Ferrous metals shop. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Operating welding equipment to assist in refurbishing SECURE's bins and containers;
  • General welders helper duties such as grinding, buffing, and weld set up;
  • Assisting welders in completing their assigned tasks;
  • Working in the Non-Ferrous shop (loading, unloading, sorting, cutting, packaging, labeling, and cleaning material);
  • Completing general housekeeping and organizing of the yard and facilities;
  • Partaking in all safety-related meetings including daily tail gates and last-minute risk assessments;
  • Other duties and project-based work as required.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in scrap/torch cutting;
  • Experience with liquid oxygen, propane, and metallurgy would be an asset;
  • The ability to safely and correctly use and maintain tools and equipment;
  • Competence in operating skid steers, lifts, forklifts, and other small equipment;
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including manual labor tasks, moving containers, and other heavy materials;
  • Ability to follow SECURE's Workplace Health and Safety requirements relevant to the assigned work site;
  • Ability to complete tasks with a sense of urgency while delivering safe and accurate results;
  • Fit-for-work each day.
