About the Role

CIMA+ is seeking a highly skilled Transmission Line Engineer to join our team in Western Canada. As a key member of our Transmission and Distribution team, you will be responsible for designing and developing safe and efficient electrical transmission systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement safe engineering solutions for medium complexity utilities projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with project/operations management to meet safety, cost, quality, and schedule targets, proposing plan changes and recommending contractor payments.
  • Resolve complex technical and design problems through independent studies, analysis, and judgment, recommending safe engineering designs.
  • Contribute to CIMA+'s engineering practices by conducting studies, developing technical standards, and providing guidance to other engineers.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by defining engineering scope with clients, establishing design criteria, and assessing/reporting progress against standards and objectives.
  • Design overhead line structures and associated facilities for voltages from 60kV to 500kV in an electric utility environment.
  • Prepare project documentation, including reports, specifications, proposals, estimates, design basis, and test plans, per CIMA+'s practices.
  • Develop design work packages with scope, duration, and effort estimates, and manage design tasks, including scope, schedule, and cost for existing and new facilities.
  • Provide signed/sealed engineering deliverables as a Professional of Record per EGBC and CIMA+'s practices.
  • Offer technical assistance, construction support, and field reviews as required.
  • Perform structural design, analysis, and detailing for structures associated with transmission underground cables and transmission submarine cables.
Requirements
  • University Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience and a history of working in Transmission projects.
  • Registered member of a Professional Engineering association in BC/Canada, or eligible for registration in BC.
  • Proficient in design/analysis software and CAD systems, along with familiarity of drawing standards.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication abilities in English – written and verbal.
  • Experience in design tasks, including scope, schedule, and cost control.
