Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Certified Automation Professional to join our team as a system specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and overseeing the implementation of systems and technical services projects, providing systems support to production locations, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and respond to equipment and software problems in a timely and efficient manner.
- Review, design, and implement site automation strategy and instrumentation to optimize plant efficiency and productivity.
- Plan and oversee the implementation of controls and automation scope of projects, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Provide staff training in the use of applications, software, and hardware to ensure seamless integration and effective operation.
- Program PLC and HMI applications for integration and troubleshooting of automated process equipment, including variable frequency drives, servo drives, and stepper systems.
- Ensure accurate record keeping and documentation of maintenance activities, including electrical documentation review of equipment changes and upgrades.
- Investigate manufacturing equipment deviations and anomalies related to automation and software, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide technical support to maintenance staff and ensure effective communication throughout the organization.
Requirements:
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in Science, Engineering Software Programming, or a related discipline (Systems, Industrial).
- A minimum of 3-5 years hands-on experience programming, designing, and maintaining industrial control systems in a regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of process control systems, HMI, and automation programming, hardware/software management, and commissioning.
- Strong PLC Programming/troubleshooting skills, with working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database management software, SQL Server, and Web server software.
- Experience with Aveva and/or Ignition.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal.
- Ability to work both on a team and independently, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
