Key Responsibilities- Health and Safety Program Development: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety programs that meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Training and Development: Design and deliver training programs for employees on health and safety topics, including orientation, refresher training, and specialized training on specific hazards.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with workplace hazards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Incident Investigation and Reporting: Conduct thorough investigations of workplace incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Compliance and Regulatory Affairs: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, including the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with employees, management, and external stakeholders on health and safety matters, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure a cohesive approach to health and safety.
- Administrative and Reporting Tasks: Maintain accurate records, reports, and databases related to health and safety, including training records, incident reports, and regulatory compliance documentation.
- Education: Post-secondary education in a related field, such as occupational health and safety, risk management, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a related field, with a strong background in health and safety, risk management, and training.
- Certifications: Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) diploma or equivalent, or in the process of obtaining certification.
- Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
This is a 32-hour per week role, requiring the incumbent to work in an office environment with regular requirements to be at program locations. The incumbent will be working in a seated position most of the time, with some flexibility in schedule for health and safety emergency situations.
