McMaster University is seeking a part-time custodian to join our Facilities team. As a custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our campus facilities. This is a great opportunity to work in a collaborative team environment and contribute to the delivery of excellent customer service. The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail and be able to work independently, showing initiative and a willingness to learn. The role involves cleaning classrooms, labs, offices, washrooms, residences, and other areas of the campus, as well as floor maintenance, waste disposal, and unlocking and locking buildings. The ideal candidate will have good verbal and written communication skills, be reliable and motivated, and be able to work under pressure. If you are a team player who is passionate about delivering high-quality service, we encourage you to apply for this part-time custodian position. The employment will be a conditional offer upon completion of a successful pre-employment medical examination.   • Cleaning classrooms, labs, offices, washrooms, residences, and other areas of the campus.
  • Floor maintenance, including sweeping, mopping, spray buffing, and waxing.
  • General cleaning, including dusting and extended washing.
  • Light moving of furniture and equipment.
  • Waste disposal and collection.
  • Unlocking and locking buildings on campus.
  • Responding to calls in a timely fashion for emergency cleaning.
  • Following prescribed work schedules and understanding verbal and written instructions.
  • Practicing all health and safety procedures and policies.
The desired qualifications include:
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Understanding of the concept of customer service and delivering on it.
  • Reliability, motivation, enthusiasm, and a team player willing to assist as needed.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, and demonstrate a willingness to learn.
  • Ontario Class "G" license in good standing would be an asset.
