Job Summary
The Project Consultant, Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada, is a key role within the Centre for Continuing Education at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. This position provides guidance and oversight to the LINC faculty and staff, supporting English language learners to achieve success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the LINC program, ensuring effective delivery of English language instruction to adult permanent residents in Saskatchewan.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, both internal and external, to develop and implement programming that meets the needs of learners and stakeholders.
- Monitor and report on program performance, ensuring a high level of excellence in program delivery.
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the program and ensure full intakes of learners into programs.
- Manage budgets and allocate resources to ensure program success.
- Supervise, train, and assign work for LINC staff, ensuring effective team management.
- Facilitate commonality of program standards and outcomes across all learning locations.
- Lead LINC staff meetings and attend other meetings as required.
- Participate in professional development planning and support the daily operations of LINC.
- Act as a first point of contact for learners with concerns or complaints.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of initiatives within the Training Solutions team and the Centre for Continuing Education.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
- A four-year degree in English, Education, Communications, TESOL, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- An adult English as a Second Language or Foreign Language teaching certificate recognized by TESL Canada.
- A minimum of three years' experience in planning, developing, implementing, and leading English language programming to adult learners.
- Leadership and supervisory experience, providing operational and/or strategic level impact.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to create and foster relationships with clients/stakeholders and partners.
- Training and/or experience resolving conflict, change management, and collaborating with diverse populations.
- Effective organizational, time management, data collecting, and participative problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience managing budgets and allocating resources within established guidelines.
- Highly motivated, team-oriented, flexible, self-directed, and committed to the enhancement and expansion of LINC and the Centre for Continuing Education.
- Strong working knowledge of Office, internet programs, and technology applications pertaining to ESL teaching.
- Ability to work as a team member in an ever-changing environment.
- Demonstrates valuing diversity.
