Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Food Service Supervisor to oversee food service operations for patients, residents, customers, and clients at BC Cancer. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising designated staff, coordinating work assignments, evaluating employee performance, and maintaining department standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of Food Service Workers, Cooks, Dietary Clerks, and Lead Hands to ensure efficient and effective food service operations.
  • Review and process food intake reports and food processor programs to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor and manage staff scheduling, including identifying utilization issues and participating in recruitment and selection processes.
  • Plan and develop menus, recipes, and food inventory requirements to meet patient and resident needs.
  • Visit patient and resident units to resolve concerns and issues related to diet and food preferences.
  • Engage with clients, customers, and stakeholders to resolve concerns and provide feedback on service improvements.
  • Coordinate food services and billing, including assisted living, outpatient clinic production, and catering events.
  • Ensure food handling and preparation meet established practices and procedures, including food safety and HACCP guidelines.
  • Monitor and estimate food and supply requirements, making recommendations for budget adjustments and ordering supplies.
  • Arrange for equipment maintenance and repair, and complete work orders for routine repairs and servicing.
  • Communicate and interpret regulations and standards to staff to ensure compliance with Worksafe BC and other relevant regulations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including conducting audits and satisfaction surveys, and making recommendations for improvements.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a recognized two-year program in Food Service Supervision, plus one year's recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to supervise, organize work, and operate related equipment.
