We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java/Big Data Developer to join our team at First Derivative. As a key member of our data engineering team, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing optimal data pipeline architectures, ensuring data quality and integrity, and optimizing data pipelines for performance and scalability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Pipeline Architecture: Design and implement optimal data pipeline architectures to meet business requirements.
  • Data Quality and Integrity: Ensure data quality and integrity across various data sources and systems to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
  • Performance and Scalability: Optimize data pipelines for performance and scalability to meet business needs.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to promptly resolve escalated incidents/outages.
  • Design and Documentation: Develop and document detailed solution designs, impart subject matter expertise throughout the life cycle.
  • Cost Optimization: Find ways to keep costs low, help come up with strategic solutions to support cost effectiveness and enhance stakeholder experience.
  • Code Reviews: Conduct code reviews to address quality, standards compliance, reusability, and ease of maintenance.
Requirements
  • Education: Undergraduate degree.
  • Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience in a related field of job function.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with Java, Spring, big data tools (Hadoop, HDFS, ADLS, ADF, Spark, Kafka, Databricks, Dremio), relational SQL and NoSQL databases (Cassandra), and designing production-grade, scalable applications and microservices.
  • Desirable Skills: Experience in Python, Scala, and 5+ years of Capital Markets experience.
  • Teamwork: Experience working on Agile teams.
