Job Overview

At Compass Group Canada, we are seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to join our team as a Category Development Manager, Supplies and Equipment. This role will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies to drive business growth, improve profitability, and enhance customer satisfaction.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled professional with a strong background in purchasing and supply chain management. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment, meeting tight deadlines efficiently. They will also possess excellent strategic planning skills, strong analytical abilities, and proven negotiation and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

The Category Development Manager, Supplies and Equipment will be responsible for participating in overall purchasing business plans and owning the strategic development of category plans within their area of responsibility. They will ensure efficient management of other functions, delivering overall business objectives and enhancing business performance.

The ideal candidate will remain current on industry trends that could lead to development of new strategic initiatives in providing sustainable growth, sales, and profitability. They will participate in strategic sourcing efforts within the category, exhibiting shared leadership focus in support of the 7-Step Process. The candidate will suggest ongoing continuous improvements, ensure teams work in strong collaboration, and encourage cross-functional synergies in driving maximum value to the organization.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, the candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing and supply chain management in a fast-paced environment. They must possess post-secondary education diploma/degree in purchasing or related studies. Excellent strategic planning skills and strong analytical abilities are essential, as well as proven negotiation and interpersonal skills complemented with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Computer proficiency, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and database management, is also required.
