Job Title: Research Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support our team at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Asma Sayed, Canada Research Chair, on various research and writing projects related to South Asian literature and cinema.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the organization of events and workshops
  • Conduct research, locate, collate, and annotate key literature
  • Assist with research, editing, and typing of academic journal articles and books
  • Develop and maintain files on project-related issues
  • Perform library and online research as required
  • Assist with photocopying, typing, filing, and overall organization of materials
  • Communicate with faculty, peers, and relevant internal and external partners
  • Prepare summary reports
  • Support writing, citations, and document layout
  • Co-author short pieces with the supervisor
  • Create infographics of key findings
Qualifications:
  • Interest in and/or knowledge of South Asian literature and cinema, and social justice issues
  • Experience with researching, writing, and editing
  • Ability to follow direction with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail
  • Ability to use MS Office tools, including databases for tracking or qualitative and/or quantitative studies
  • Good interpersonal, organization, research, and writing skills
  • A professional and positive attitude
