Job Summary:

WoodGreen is seeking a skilled Living Standards Coordinator to join our Community Supports and Outreach team. The successful candidate will work with clients who have experienced homelessness, low income, addictions, and mental health challenges to provide holistic support and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct tenant needs assessments and create care plans to address hoarding tendencies and unit maintenance issues.
  • Engage tenants in identifying issues and problem areas to create a healthy living environment.
  • Coach and educate tenants on their responsibilities and work with them to ensure a clear understanding of housing concerns.
  • Identify resources and develop collaborative plans with tenants to address hoarding behavior.
  • Work with tenants to understand pest control management and support them in preparing units for treatments.
  • Ensure tenant ownership and empowerment through decluttering processes.
  • Collaborate with support teams, Supervisor/Manager, and housing staff to plan and facilitate pest control treatments.
  • Help tenants set and achieve realistic goals to bring their units to an acceptable safety standard.
  • Attend Hoarding Network and community-related meetings to network and stay up-to-date on best practices.
  • Liaise with Supervisor, Manager, and support staff team to coordinate information sessions and coaching on de-cluttering and healthy living environments.
  • Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution with residents when required.

Requirements:
  • Post-Secondary Degree in Social Work or related field; or Diploma in Social Services with several years of related experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years direct experience in social services working with individuals who have history of homelessness, low income, addictions, and mental health challenges.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pest concerns, pest control procedures, and solutions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of best practices for hoarding support and follow-up.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and team work skills; ability to work cooperatively with team members.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to problem solve individually, and as part of a group.
  • Positive and goal-oriented; understands that the change process is both labor and emotionally intensive.
  • Understand resistive behavior and apply relevant strategies to move forward.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and experience with working with individuals who may have experienced violence, addictions, abuse, and/or homelessness.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency with the ability to communicate and engage with individuals from diverse ethnocultural backgrounds and levels of abilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with needs assessments and coordinating services and implementation.
  • Excellent oral, and written communication and documentation skills.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team environment or individually, to multi-task, organize, and prioritize efficiently.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of client-centered, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis response and intervention, de-escalation, advocacy, and negotiation skills.
  • Comfortable working in an environment in which clients may be angry and exhibit anti-social behaviors.
  • Applied computer skills (MS Word, Microsoft Office 365/Teams, Excel).
  • Experience with Pirouette database is an asset.
  • A second language is an asset.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Able to work in settings which are crowded and may include secondhand smoke and/or unpleasant odors.
