The RoleWe are looking for a Laboratory Manager to help lead our Advanced Geotechnical Laboratory in Fredericton, New Brunswick (Canada).
BGC's advanced laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility that has established itself as the world leading consulting laboratory for characterization of the geotechnical properties of soil and rock.
The successful candidate will provide senior leadership and oversee the operations of the lab while practicing our values of One Team, Excellence, Curiosity, Common Sense, and Clarity.
Responsibilities- Oversee lab testing project delivery including quoting, proposals, budgeting, project execution, deliverables, and invoicing.
- Oversee lab operations including scheduling, sample chain of custody including sample shipping/receiving, storage, and disposal.
- Coordinate acquisition, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory testing equipment.
- Oversee training programs and continuing professional development of laboratory staff.
- Oversee comprehensive review system of all laboratory testing data.
- Lead initiatives to maintain high quality standards.
- Resource management, annual planning, budgeting.
- Setting and executing strategic direction for the lab in line with organizational and laboratory team goals.
- 10 to 15+ years of relevant professional experience with laboratory testing including laboratory management.
- Undergraduate degree in Geological/Geotechnical Engineering, Geoscience, or a related field or Certified Technician/Technology Diploma.
- Technical expertise and project management experience.
- Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and oral, and the ability to communicate effectively.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
