Job SummaryThe Medical Physicist plays a crucial role in the Radiation Treatment Program, providing scientific and technical support to ensure the highest quality care for patients. This position requires a strong background in medical physics and the ability to apply physics principles to medicine.
Key Responsibilities- Specification, acceptance testing, commissioning, and calibration of equipment used in the Radiotherapy Department
- Implementation of QA Programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Planning and implementation of new treatment techniques and/or technologies
- Advising Radiation Oncologists and Dosimetrists on technical matters
- Conducting ongoing research and providing education for residents, students, and visitors
- PhD in Medical Physics or a related subject from a recognized university
- Demonstrated scientific problem-solving ability
- Successful completion of a CAMPEP accredited residency in radiation oncology physics or equivalent
- Certified or eligible for certification in radiation oncology physics by the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize workload
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work extended hours, overtime, and evenings/weekends as required.
