Qualifications and Requirements

We are seeking a highly skilled Sonographer Generalist to join our team at Island Health. To be successful in this role, you will require:

Graduation from an approved Ultrasound Technologist Diploma program.

Certification as a Generalist Sonographer from Sonography Canada and/or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), along with one year of recent experience in a healthcare setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Eligibility for registration with Sonography Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and coordinate workload to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Establish priorities in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team to achieve shared goals.
  • Problem-solve and think critically to resolve complex issues.
  • Foster good public relations and communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Operate related equipment, including computerized systems, to perform diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to ensure clear understanding and collaboration.
  • Meet the physical demands of the position and perform duties with minimal supervision.
