Job Summary

The District of Saanich is seeking a highly skilled Aquatic Instructor III to deliver our lifesaving, first aid, lifeguard, and instructor training programs at the Gordon Head Recreation Centre.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver instructor training programs, including first aid, National Lifeguard, and instructor development courses.
  • Provide direct instruction, leadership, and program management for lifesaving courses.
  • Prepare course outlines and class content, ensuring accurate and safe delivery.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and reports, and ensure a safe and clean work environment.
  • Ensure participants are taught according to safety and skill standards outlined by Saanich and certifying agencies.
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 10.
  • One of the following current awards: First Aid Instructor (Lifesaving Society or Canadian Red Cross), National Lifeguard Instructor, or a Lifesaving Society Trainer award in any stream.
  • Three months of experience.
  • Satisfactory police information check with vulnerable sector check no older than 6 months.
Additional Requirements for Aquatic Instructor III
  • Completion of Grade 12.
  • A current Lifesaving Instructor award.
  • Six months of teaching experience.
  • Satisfactory police information check with vulnerable sector check no older than 6 months.
