Job Summary

The Barback is a key member of our bar team, responsible for ensuring the bar area is well-stocked and organized for service. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Restock liquor bottles and other bar supplies in accordance with daily requisition sheets
  • Assist bartenders with prep work for daily service, including cutting fruit and preparing syrups
  • Stock straws, disposable cups, napkins, ice, and cleaning supplies
  • Work with the bar team to maintain a clean and organized bar area
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the bar area during service
  • Tend to emergencies on the bar, such as broken glass, clogged drains, and spills
  • Remove and dispose of trash receptacles in and around the bar area
  • Help maintain cleanliness in fan areas
  • Perform general cleaning tasks as assigned by supervisor/manager to adhere to health standards
  • Complete closing duties, including storing goods, restocking items, and disposing of empty bottles
  • Perform additional tasks as needed and requested
  • Mop the bar floor as needed
  • Assist with opening and closing inventory counts
  • Answer guest questions and concerns with the help of fellow employees, ushers, security, and Blue Jays sales staff
  • Work as a team to help others where appropriate and/or when asked
  • Provide excellent customer service by smiling and making eye contact with every guest
  • Move garbage, cardboard, and empty beer bottles/kegs in an organized fashion

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 education and 1 year of related work experience
  • Good working knowledge of English (written and verbal)
  • Smart Serve Certification
  • Knowledge of wine, beer, and cocktails
  • Emotionally mature, respectful, and sincere
  • Well-groomed and courteous
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm under pressure
  • Understanding of all policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and specifications
  • Enjoy talking to people
  • Guest service experience

  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Working Conditions

Location: On Site

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands to finger, and handle controls. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand, walk, and stoop.
