Android Engineer Role at Reddit

Raise the bar for Android development at Reddit, a community-driven platform with + active communities and M+ daily active unique visitors. As a Senior Android Engineer on our UI Platform team, you'll be responsible for driving development on our cross-platform design system and evolving our UI framework.

About the Role:

  • Prioritize Accessibility: Develop and introduce solutions based on Android best practices to push Reddit's accessibility goals forward.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with product, design, and engineering counterparts to drive development on Reddit's cross-platform design system.
  • UI Framework Evolution: Evolve how all Android engineers build UI, drive adoption of Jetpack Compose, and help build the technical foundation for rapid experimentation without compromising quality.
  • Technical Leadership: Be the go-to person for developers on complex problems in Android development and continuously learn and improve your technical and non-technical abilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent hands-on, post-grad, non-internship technical expertise.
  • + years of hands-on, non-internship, full-time professional software development experience developing user-facing Android mobile native applications at scale, using Java or Kotlin.
  • Strategic thinking, passion for developing scalable, well-designed software that improves people's lives globally, and a track record of leading large projects that require cross-team and cross-functional collaborations.
  • Experience with modern Android development frameworks such as Jetpack Compose and Kotlin coroutines, entrepreneurial spirit, self-directed, innovative, and biased towards action in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver great user experiences.

We offer an estimated salary range of $180,000 - $250,000 per year, depending on location and experience. This role is 100% remotely workable and open only to candidates who are currently located and authorized to work in the United States or select areas of Canada.
