Are you passionate about working with youth in conflict with the law? Do you want to make a positive impact in their lives? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Services Officer to join our team at the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.

Job Summary:

The Youth Services Officer will provide primary and direct services to youth within a secure detention/custody setting. This role requires a strong understanding of youth justice related legislation, sociological issues impacting youth, and case management principles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise youth on an assigned rotating shift in a secure custody/detention facility setting
  • Ensure the safety and security of youth, staff, and the community
  • Provide community escort duties to ensure the safety of youth, staff, and the public
  • Support and deliver structured rehabilitative programs and reintegration services
  • Use relationship-based and cognitive learning behavioral approaches to foster respectful, caring relationships and create a learning space for life and pro-social skills
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education from a college/university of recognized standing in a related field, or a recognized secondary school diploma with supplementary courses in human behavior
  • One year of recent relevant work experience, or three years of recent relevant work experience
  • Valid Emergency First Aid, CPR (level C), and AED Certification
  • Proven knowledge of sociological issues impacting youth, case management principles, and youth justice related legislation
