Nurse Practitioner

Verve Senior Living is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team at Holland Gardens. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents.
Job Summary:The Registered Practical Nurse will be responsible for performing nursing interventions with residents within their scope of practice. This includes utilizing the principal functions of nursing services in licensed care and adhering to the professional standards of practice of the applicable provincial College of Nurses.
Key Responsibilities:- Participate in the Verve Quality Improvement (VQI) program.
- Distribute medications as per resident medication times.
- Perform treatments to all residents who require them within their area.
- Make assessments regarding changes in a resident's condition.
- Update resident care plans according to residents' changing needs.
- Complete all medication, treatment, and incidental charting for residents on the nursing unit.
- Facilitate communication with all nursing staff regarding the care or concerns that have arisen during the shift.
- Initiate referrals to interdisciplinary team members.
- Work closely with and facilitate interactions between departments to ensure the best possible care and service is provided to residents.
- Utilize and allocate resources effectively by distributing, monitoring, and maintaining adequate nursing supplies and equipment on the unit.
- Provide direction to front-line nursing staff to ensure use of equipment and supplies is in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Supervise and investigate staff actions or concerns to determine the proper resolution.
- Redirect and mentor front-line healthcare staff when required.
- Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A recognized nursing license (RPN licensing) and be in good standing.
- Written and verbal fluency in English.
- Excellent leadership skills and organizational skills.
- Proficient computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, and MDS/RAI).
- 1 year of experience as a Registered Practical Nurse.
- Some experience working within a union setting.
