We are seeking a skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Painter/Plasterer in the Facilities Maintenance Department.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the general painting and decorating of school buildings, furniture, and equipment, as well as ensuring work is performed in a safe and effective manner, complying with Board and legislative standards and codes.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform painting and decorating tasks, including lining gym floors, and ensuring work is performed in a safe and effective manner.
- Ensure Board vehicles, equipment, and tools are properly maintained.
- Perform other related duties to ensure that properties, facilities, and equipment are properly maintained.
- Knowledge of and continual upgrading of relevant codes and legislation (Acts and Regulations), new materials, equipment, products, methods, and procedures.
- Skilled in mixing and matching paint colours, and matching stained woodwork.
- Ability to perform plaster and drywall repairs and to prepare work surfaces accurately and thoroughly.
- Ability to climb scaffolds and ladders on both the exterior and interior of the building.
- Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
- Completion of Secondary School diploma, Ontario Journeyman Certificate of Qualification as a Painter and Decorator, and 5 years experience in residential/commercial buildings is required.
The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent deadlines and changing priorities. The work may involve working in awkward positions or spaces, and the candidate must be able to climb scaffolds and ladders on both the exterior and interior of the building.
What We Offer:The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board offers a competitive salary range of $30.99 to $32.17 per hour ($64,459 to $66,914 per year), as well as a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
