Equipment Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Ferrous Materials Handler to join our team at Equest. As a key member of our yard operations team, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating and maintaining heavy motorized equipment to unload and load ferrous materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy motorized equipment, including loaders, excavators, and material handlers, to safely and efficiently unload and load ferrous materials
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, including checking fluids and performing routine checks to ensure proper maintenance
- Load trucks accurately with proper weights and communicate with scale personnel for confirmation of loaded materials
- Unload transports with ferrous materials, safely and efficiently, and clean trailers of excess material
- Stock pile and sort metals, placing them in designated areas
- Use hand-held mobile radio devices to coordinate tasks and resources with yard and scale personnel
- Maintain accurate logs and records daily, weekly, and monthly as required by supervision
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two consecutive years of experience operating heavy motorized equipment within the last three years
- Significant experience operating heavy equipment, including loaders, excavators, and material handlers
- Experience leading a team in a plant and/or mill setting is an asset
- Knowledge and understanding of ferrous metals and classifications is an asset
- Excellent communication skills, including oral and written communication and/or mobile radio device usage
- Team player with the ability to establish trust with team members and recognize group morale
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work safely
- Ability to push, pull, and lift materials up to 50 pounds
