Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at Seafood Express (PEI) Limited. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment, ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, utilizing computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions, and order parts and maintain inventory to ensure timely repairs.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, ensuring that all work meets manufacturers' specifications.
  • Keep maintenance reports and documentation up-to-date, and test repaired equipment for proper performance.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work as required, and perform repair work on heavy trucks and attachments.
  • Service and maintain emission control systems, and verify and repair emission control systems as needed.
Requirements
  • Driver's License (Class 3 or D)
  • Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
  • Truck and Coach Service Licence (310T)
  • Commercial Vehicle Inspection Certificate
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
Preferred Qualifications
  • Diesel engine repair specialization, including fuel injection systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, air conditioning systems, lubrication systems, and engine control systems.
  • Powered equipment repair specialization, including cable-operated working attachments, hydraulic-operated working attachments, compressors, pumps, telescopic ladders, electric generators, and industrial lift trucks and fork-lifts.
  • Mechanical maintenance and repair specialization, including drive trains and final drives, hydraulic transmissions, tracked vehicle suspensions and steering, highway vehicle tires and wheels, and differentials.
Working Conditions
  • Physically demanding work environment, requiring attention to detail, bending, crouching, kneeling, hand-eye coordination, handling heavy loads, manual dexterity, and standing for extended periods.
  • Overtime required, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
