What is the Opportunity?

We are seeking a seasoned risk management professional to join our Internal Audit Group as a Director of Risk Management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in risk management, balance sheet risk, and capital management, with experience in leading audit teams and developing audit approaches.

This role will involve driving the development of our audit approach and monitoring activities, leveraging data analytics to inform risk-based decisions, and managing regulatory engagements and responses. The successful candidate will also act as a trusted advisor to auditees and platform/regional audit teams globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end execution of risk-based technical/complex audits related to balance sheet risk topics, including liquidity risk, stress testing, model risk, and capital measurement.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including internal and external stakeholders, to ensure fair and risk-based solutions are achieved.
  • Lead/oversee all audit planning processes to ensure adequate coverage of key business processes and support an independent and objective assessment of internal controls and risk management practices.
  • Lead/oversee the validation of regulatory matters issued by relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Lead/oversee the team's effective continuous risk monitoring activities in accordance with IA methodology.
  • Review audit working papers and evidence of findings in accordance with IA methodology.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of seasoned internal audit professionals, fostering transparent, authentic, and positive working relationships with senior leaders in GRM and internal audit.
  • Manage resource planning to ensure sufficient engagement resources to meet audit plan deliverables.
  • Actively monitor and stay up-to-date on changes in organizational, regulatory, strategic, financial, and emerging risks.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of risk management/corporate treasury experience as 1LoD or 2LoD, with direct experience and strong knowledge in balance sheet management, IRRBB, capital markets, stress testing, and capital management.
  • Proven experience leading others, building strong relationships, and influencing key stakeholders to achieve consensus and meet objectives.
  • Quantitative degree in finance or advanced modeling, with experience in risk management frameworks and regulatory relationship management.
  • Team player with strong collaborative and communication skills, able to work independently to make decisions and prioritize tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, quick learner, and self-driven to take initiative, with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a broad picture mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or working knowledge of internal audit best practices, methodologies, policies, and procedures focused on banking or capital markets, with a deep understanding of financial services industry regulations.
  • Professional qualification such as CPA/CFA/FRM certification or studying towards is a plus.
  • Proficient with using Excel/VBA/Python is an asset.
