Job Summary

QAI Laboratories is seeking a highly skilled Millwright Technician/Shake & Shingle Inspector to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for performing inspections and maintenance on our equipment, as well as ensuring the quality of our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspection and Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on test equipment to ensure optimal and continual performance.
  • Troubleshooting and Repair: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair test equipment, as well as fabricate and weld parts as needed for repairs or modifications.
  • Quality Control: Conduct inspections to ensure the quality of our products, including cedar shakes and shingles, and complete inspection reports and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Client Coordination: Coordinate inspection activities with clients and become knowledgeable of all shake and shingle grading rules and the relevant standards.
  • General Maintenance: Perform general building maintenance and repair, as well as adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Millwright or in a similar industrial maintenance role.
  • Education: Technical diploma or combination of education and experience.
  • Skills: Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments, as well as experience working with low-voltage systems and electrical components.
  • Knowledge: Knowledgeable of the applicable standards and codes for the related products and able to apply this knowledge in specific situations and to specific products.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to work with limited supervision, be a team player, and have a great attitude toward their job.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: Experience working at an ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratory.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of common test methods relating to assigned products.
  • Teamwork: Experience working in diverse teams and flexibility in work schedule and working overtime, if needed.

  • Professional Judgment: Demonstrates sound professional judgment in the applicable field of inspection.
  • Safety: Conducts inspections in a safe manner adhering to good safety practices and all applicable safety rules and guidelines.
  • Technical Knowledge: Maintains a high level of expertise and knowledge in the area of electrical equipment evaluations.
  • Problem-Solving: Able to grasp general concepts in a field of testing and apply it to specific test methods.
  • Communication: Good working knowledge of the test methods in their specific discipline and able to multi-task with some degree of efficiency and accuracy.
