Satellite Attitude Control Systems Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Satellite Attitude Determination & Control Systems Engineer to join our team at Macdonald, Dettwiler And Associates Corporation in Montreal.
Job OverviewThis role supports the definition, design, development, and testing of attitude estimation algorithms, attitude control algorithms, orbit maintenance/control maneuvers, sensor/effector modeling, and flight hardware relating to Satellite ADCS sub-systems.
The successful candidate will work closely with our systems team to develop and test cutting-edge satellite technology.
Main Responsibilities- Define requirements for Satellite ADCS sub-systems, including reaction wheel and torque rod sizing, sensors performance, characteristics, redundancy, and fault management.
- Perform stability analysis and effects on Platform instruments.
- Implement pointing, orbit raising, and station keeping algorithms for flight.
- Analyze platform stability to ensure low jitter of line-of-sight instruments.
- Support mission analysis, requirements, and Flight Software.
- Monitor MDA's suppliers and integrated product team.
- Provide inputs and support to all program reviews.
- Attend test reviews and provide technical expertise.
- Support subsystem Assembly, Integration, and Test activities.
- Support Satellite testing: EGSE, Test supervision, data analysis.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering in a relevant field with 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Previous design and test experience with LEO/MEO satellites and ADCS sub-systems.
- Understanding of space environment and orbit mechanics.
- Strong understanding of aerospace system engineering fundamentals.
- Demonstrated capability to test systems and resolve problems.
- Hands-on individual who can support systems integration processes.
- Experience with qualification and acceptance testing of new designs.
- High degree of attention to detail.
- Demonstrated capability to efficiently work with little to no supervision.
- Ability to distill complex problems to fundamentals to solve with analysis, similarity, or creativity.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications skills in English.
- Experience leading and coaching a technical team.
The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 CAD per year, depending on qualifications and experience. A competitive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development are also offered.
