This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong leader to oversee the daily operations of the Produce Department at Farm Boy Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all objectives and goals of the department and store are met and/or exceeded.
Main Responsibilities- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service and support Farm Boy's vision of delivering the best fresh shopping experience.
- Strategic Planning: Work with the Store Manager and Retail Specialist to develop and execute strategies aimed at achieving stated goals, such as financial results.
- Team Development: Develop and lead a high-performing team, including interviewing, training, reviews, coaching, motivation, and recognition.
- Communication: Lead the team through consistent and effective communication, including one-on-one coaching, huddles, metrics, product knowledge, and corporate policies and procedures.
- Operations Management: Oversee retail operations and deliverables, including inventory, ordering, item maintenance, quality and rotation, shrink, merchandising, invoicing, scheduling, and payroll.
- Store Coverage: Participate in store coverage rotation as a Manager on Duty, including opening and closing the store, alarm system emergency contact support.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with Safe Food Handling regulations and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Additional Responsibilities: May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.
- Education: Typically requires completion of a post-secondary program with an emphasis in business, plus a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience in a similar role or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certifications: Successful completion of a Public Health Food Handler certification, Smart Serve plus Level A First Aid and Basic CPR certification, or the commitment to complete within 6 months.
- Skills: Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills, clear and effective communication style, both written and oral, good judgment and decision-making abilities, ability to learn manual and automated systems/tools, skilled at working in a fast-paced environment, flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Language: Fluency in English and French is considered an asset.
- Physical Demands: Required to stand and walk for long periods of time during shift, required to lift, carry, or handle heavy objects.
