Job Title: Program Counselor/Facilitator

Join the Government of Nunavut as a Program Counselor/Facilitator and contribute to the rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders in our correctional facilities.

About the Role

This is a highly sensitive position that requires a strong understanding of traditional Inuit justice systems and practices. As a Program Counselor/Facilitator, you will develop, manage, and maintain Inuit culture-based programs to provide opportunities for rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders in low and medium security sections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and facilitate Inuit culture-based programs to promote rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders
  • Provide one-on-one counseling and group facilitation services to offenders
  • Collaborate with community resources to provide aftercare planning and support
  • Conduct thorough assessments of offenders' needs and develop individualized plans for rehabilitation and reintegration
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A degree in counseling or a related field
  • 2-4 years of experience in community development, counseling, or facilitating programs
  • Strong background in Inuit culture and traditions
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
